_Fake it till you make it.

Having a fake car is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, if you want to modify a retro model, it’s the safest way to face the challenge. That is if you want to avoid receiving death threats in you mailbox from automotive purists.

Dramatic childhood. This was our first introduction with S Klub Slang500. And immediately we got confronted with that horrible story from the past. As a kid John Sarkisyan was playing outside, when he took a serious fall in a box full of creativity. His parents rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately the doctors hands were tied. No seriously, the hospital got robbed an hour before, and all the staff got tied to a chair. And when they cut them loose, their shift had just finished. So after all those years, John still has to cope with stage 4 of creativititis, the most severe form of creativity.

John & Jon. It doesn’t happen very often that creative people join forces, though that’s just what John did when he teamed up with Jon Sibal, one of world’s best automotive render designers. Together they came up with this restomod, a build that is based on the Mercedes SLK 32 AMG. Sitting on top of that Mercedes SLK is a body entirely made from fiberglass. John had the opportunity to use an authentic 300 SL to use as donor for his molds. The result was a total of 33 individual pieces that contributed to this end result.

Lowered by an upgrade. Deleting spam on your computer is easy, though getting rid of a horrible ride height is even easier. Mercedes delivered fine work with their suspension for the SLK 32 AMG, though when you’re looking for better, you will very soon stand eye to eye with KW automotive. And so this Outlaw Mercedes 300SL Replica received a KW coilover suspension that resulted in a substantial lowering.

Progress is here. The Mercedes power source is a 3.2 liter V6 that produces about 380 hp. Combine that with the knowledge that the body weighs 50% less than original because of the fiberglass, and you know you have a pretty impressive toy to play with. A brushed set of HRE Wheels try everything in their power to steal the show, but this car has so many creative details on both inside as out, that they are nothing more (or less) than one of the many cool details on this car.

Blue skies. The blue leather straps on the outside of the car are a direct hint towards the finishing of the interior. So when you look outside, and the sky isn’t blue, this is why. Because John used a ton of blue sky to achieve this interior. This entire project took just 5 months, and the outcome is pretty radical.
